Zoric, Marianne

Marianne Zoric is General Counsel in the Immigration Law Section of the Department of Justice in Toronto. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Political Science and Religious Studies) and of Osgoode Hall Law School. She was called to the bar in Ontario in 1991.

After her call to the bar, Marianne joined Citizenship and Immigration Canada where she held a number of positions including Appeals Officer, Assistant Manager, and Manager of Hearings and Appeals. In 1998, Marianne joined the Department of Justice in Toronto, where she litigates in the areas of citizenship, immigration, and Crown law, predominantly before the Federal Court and Court of Appeal.

Some of Marianne’s more interesting cases were those of Hinzman and Hughey, as well as the Almrei security certificate proceedings. Most recently, Marianne was one of the government’s counsel on the Harkat appeal in the Supreme Court of Canada.
