Rivet, Michèle

Currently Vice-President of the Canadian section of the International Commission of Jurists and associate professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Sherbrooke, The Honourable Michèle Rivet was the first President of the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal in 1990. She is formerly a Commissioner with the Law Commission of Canada and a judge with the Quebec’s Youth Court. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Law and a Diplôme d’études supérieures from the University of Paris. In 2005, she was awarded an honourary doctorate from the University of Ottawa for her achievements in the development of human rights at the Canadian and international level.
