A Special Advocate for security certificate proceedings, John Norris maintains a trial and appellate practice in criminal, constitutional, and national security law. He regularly represents public interest groups on appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada. Mr. Norris is a Director of the Canadian Council of Criminal Defence Lawyers, Assistant Editor of the Canadian Rights Reporter, and has authored several scholarly articles. In 2011, he received the Catzman Award for Professionalism and Civility in the practice of law from the Advocates’ Society. Mr. Norris received his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1991 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1993.
